For teachers and tutors

The teacher portal for your courses, attendance and grading

Zolinex gives every teacher one place for courses, schedule, students, attendance, materials and assessments. It runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install.

Your teacher portal at a glance

Your school creates your teacher account and assigns you to your courses. You sign in at zolinex.com/login, and Zolinex opens your teacher portal. Administrators and students use their own, separate portals.

The dashboard shows what needs your attention:

  • Your courses with their status (running, starting soon or finished) and how many of the planned lessons have been held.
  • Your students: the number of active students across your courses.
  • Homework waiting for grading and the latest submissions.
  • Today's and tomorrow's lessons, with a direct link from today's lesson to the course's attendance tab.

The menu also includes your weekly schedule, a personal calendar, a kanban board, personal notes and internal email. New messages arrive as in-app notifications. You pick your own interface language from 9, and the portal works in any modern browser on a computer, tablet or phone.

For ways to plan your teaching week around a dashboard like this, read our article on teacher productivity.

Course management for teachers

Administrators create courses, set the weekly schedule and enroll students. As an assigned teacher, you open each course from My Courses and work in its tabs:

  • Overview, students and schedule: course details, who is enrolled, and the weekly lesson times with any room label.
  • Documents: upload worksheets, slides and other files and organize them in folders. Students in the course can open and download them.
  • Videos: upload a video file or add a YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive or OneDrive link. Adding and editing videos is open to teachers whom the administrator has made video editors for that course; other teachers can watch them.
  • Curriculum: the course plan by week and topic. You can add, edit and remove weeks and topics.
  • Meeting rooms: links to the course's Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Jitsi or other online rooms, added by your administrator. You and your students open them from the course, and the call itself runs in the meeting tool.
  • Chat: a channel for the whole course plus direct messages with course members, with file attachments.
  • Notes: your own course notes with attachments. Students don't see them.

Under My Students you find everyone enrolled in your courses, with contact details, parent or guardian contact, attendance rate and homework status. Students with low attendance or missing homework are flagged as needing attention.

Zolinex does not record live classes. If you have video editing rights, you can upload your own recording as a video lesson after class.

Attendance tracking per lesson

You take attendance per course and lesson date. Open the course's Attendance tab, for example from today's lesson on your dashboard, and pick the lesson date. The sheet lists every actively enrolled student.

  1. Click Mark all present, then change the exceptions.
  2. Set each student to present, absent, late or excused.
  3. Add a note to a student if needed; that note is visible to the student. You can also add a general note for the session.
  4. Save. If attendance already exists for that date, saving updates it instead of creating a duplicate.

You can choose any date from the course start up to today, so a lesson you couldn't record in class can be entered later. Zolinex warns you when no lesson is scheduled on that weekday, when the date is after the course end date, or when the lesson would go beyond the planned number of lessons.

The attendance history lists every recorded session and who took it. The student report shows each student's attendance rate, with present and late counted as attended. Students see their own attendance in the student portal. For policies and practical tips, read our attendance tracking guide.

Homework, online exams and grading

Assignments

Create homework per course with instructions, a due date, a maximum score and optional files. Save it as a draft or publish it, and decide whether late submissions are allowed. Students submit text or files online, late submissions are flagged, and you grade each one with a score and written feedback that the student sees.

Online exams and quizzes

  • Test types: placement, progress, final and quiz. You assign an exam to one or more of your courses, and you can duplicate an exam to reuse it.
  • Questions: multiple choice, true/false, fill in the blank, short answer and essay. Questions can include images, audio or video, for example for listening tasks. You can also import questions in bulk from a JSON or CSV file based on the template.
  • Settings: duration, an availability window, a passing mark, the number of attempts, random question order and whether students see their results.
  • Grading: multiple choice and true/false are scored automatically. You grade fill-in-the-blank, short-answer and essay answers yourself, with points and feedback per answer.

Before students start, you can take the exam yourself in preview mode. Afterwards, the results page lists every attempt. Ideas for fair tests are in our guide to online exams and quizzes.

Getting access: school teachers and independent tutors

If your school uses Zolinex, your administrator creates your account and either gives you your sign-in details or sends you an email with a link to set your password. Teachers can't sign up on their own. You can change your password in your profile, and if you forget it, use Forgot password on the sign-in page. Your name and other personal details are maintained by the administrator.

If you teach independently, for example as a private tutor or a small course provider, register your own organization at zolinex.com/register. You become its administrator and can create courses, enroll students, take attendance and run homework and exams yourself in the admin portal. When other teachers join you, you add them as teacher accounts.

The Free plan costs $0 and, as of October 2026, includes up to 25 students, 15 courses, 2 teachers and 1 administrator. Paid plans raise these limits, and invoices with payment records are part of the Pro and Business plans. Prices can change, so check the pricing page for current details.

Frequently asked questions

What is a teacher portal?

A teacher portal is the part of a school management system that teachers use every day. In Zolinex it shows your assigned courses, weekly schedule and students, and lets you take attendance per lesson, share documents, open meeting links, set homework and run and grade online exams. Administrators work in a separate admin portal, and students in their own student portal.

How do I get access to the Zolinex teacher portal?

Your school's administrator creates your teacher account, assigns your courses and gives you your sign-in details or a link to set your password. You then sign in at zolinex.com/login. Teachers can't sign up on their own. If you want to use Zolinex for your own lessons, register your organization at zolinex.com/register; you become its administrator.

Can I take attendance on my phone?

Yes. Zolinex runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, so you can open the attendance sheet in class without installing anything. There is no native mobile app. Mark everyone present with one click, change the exceptions to absent, late or excused, and save. You can also record attendance for an earlier date later.

Can teachers upload videos and documents?

Documents, yes: every teacher assigned to a course can upload files and organize them in folders, and enrolled students can download them. For video lessons, you can upload a file or add a YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive or OneDrive link if the administrator has made you a video editor for that course. Otherwise you can watch the course videos but not change them.

Does Zolinex grade exams automatically?

Partly. Multiple choice and true/false questions are scored automatically when a student submits the exam. Fill-in-the-blank, short-answer and essay answers are graded by the teacher, with points and optional feedback for each answer. You also set the passing mark, the number of attempts and whether students see their results.

Can I teach live online classes through Zolinex?

Zolinex does not include video conferencing. Your administrator adds the link to your Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Jitsi or other meeting room to the course, and you and your students open it from there. After class you take attendance for the lesson as usual and, if you have video editing rights, upload a recording as a video lesson. Calls are not recorded automatically.
